Call for Volunteers SHPE Ohio-SW Chapter is a sponsor of the 2012 OMC (http://iis.stat.wright.edu/OMC/) to be held at Wright State University on Saturday, April 21. SHPE members interact with students and parents through STEM-related presentations and demonstrations and assist in the exam Question & Answer sessions. Background The Ohio Mathematics Conference (OMC) is for upper elementary, middle and high school students in grades 4 through 11. It is organized by the Dayton Branch of the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association, hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Wright State University, sponsored by the College of Science of Mathematics and WSU, Asian American Council in Dayton, the Ohio-SW Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and Hospice of Dayton; and supported by Asian, Hispanic, and Native American community organizations in the Ohio Valley area (including the Greater Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton areas.) The purpose of the contest is to stimulate interests in mathematics among upper elementary, middle and high school students and to recognize those who exhibit exceptional talents in Mathematics. The organizers and sponsors ask teachers and parents to strongly encourage their students in grades 4 through 11 to enter this Contest.
